The Halswell Toy Library Inc (HTL) is a non-profit community service run by a voluntary committee, providing good quality toys for hire (6 months - 10 years old).
We aim to provide families with durable, sustainable toys and resources to encourage learning through play.
Membership
As the Toy Library is a community organisation we really appreciate when families sign up as contributing members.
We would not exist without the help of volunteers on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Volunteering is also a great way to become familiar with all the toys we have and meet other families in the community.

- DUTY MEMBERSHIP $60 - Helping out the library for 7 hours during the year, doing roles such as counting & returning toys, meeting other caregivers.
- NON-DUTY MEMBERSHIP $120 - Full membership with Halswell Toy Library without being placed in the duty roster.
- GRANPARENT MEMBERSHIP $10 - Limited to 3 visits.

Wednesday Nights: 7:00pm - 8:00pm
A fun and inviting environment for the kids to get out of the house, exploring their options, broadening their confidence with toys that they may not have experienced before. Bonus: you don't have to store the toy at home after your 2 week hire!
The library is great place to meet other parents (and their kids) and learn about the neighbourhood and upcoming events.
Its great to have different options available when you've got a couple (or more!) kids to entertain, a very common cause for the need of a few toys and entertainment are birthday parties
We have a vast array of toys ranging from infant, adventure, construction, musical, technology, role play, manipulative, imaginative, puzzles, outdoor and much more!
Visiting the library is a great way to get out of the house and the kids thoroughly enjoy seeing whats available. Also it is great to see if any upcoming birthday gifts are a good choice
FAQ
People usually join for all sorts of reasons but the most common is that there is a huge variety of fun toys for different ages that make both the kids and the parents smile. Its a great way to learn something new at a very little expense.
The toys range in prices from $0.50 to $3.00 which you get to enjoy for 2 weeks before it needs to be returned or extended for longer use.
When you come in for duty, you help out the librarian by taking in the returned toys, counting and checking them for damage and returning them to the shelves (a great way to find toys you didn't know where there). If it's quiet then a bit of a tidy up can never go amiss but a good ol yarn is great too.
Feel free to bring your children along for the duty roll if you feel that they can be entertained for the duration of the roll.

There is a fee for a week by week basis on overdue toys that can be paid upon returning of said toy.
The prices for membership either Duty or Non-Duty reduce to however many months are left in the financial year (31 March 20XX). You will not be charged for the months that you were not a member of the Halswell Toy Library. Contact us to find out more details
